Examples of the materials of our shoes
Let’s talk about a selection of our shoes and more specifically, some of the materials we use for making them. Learn about the Global Recycling Standard and about leather production with LWG certification.
We also look at the details, such as shoe laces and the packaging – and of course we inspire you and show some examples of the shoes we have in our range.
Iconic sneaker classics
When talking about iconic Björn Borg footwear classics, The T305 CLS BTM is a great example of a timeless sneaker made with several recycled fibers and materials.
The T305 CLS BTM is a product that is produced under Global Recycling Standard. The upper is made of water-based PU, the interior is made with recycled fibers and the style has a recycled rubber outsole.
Off course we did not forget about the details; the laces are made of organic cotton and the packaging is made of FSC certified recycled carton with a water-based print.
The sneakers are available for both men and women and come in both plain white and in white with colour and metallic details on the heels. The perfect everyday sneaker that goes with everything!
Here are some details of these shoes:

Outsole: 10% recycled rubber, 9.4% natural rubber, 80.6% synthetic rubber
Water-based PU
Water-based PU leather is a synthetic leather made of water-based polyurethane and doesn’t contain toxic organic solvents.
Water-based PU leather can be used on shoes, bags, clothing and much more.
There is no pollution in the production process, and no toxic or harmful waste gas and waste-water discharge.
It is a durable material that lasts a long time and also has good breathability.
S&V (our footwear licensee) use water-based PU that is GRS-certified.
Water-based PU coatings provide benefits such as reduced environmental impact, improved worker safety, low odor, quick drying, flexibility, and enhanced durability. These advantages make water-based PU an attractive choice for both manufacturers and consumers in the footwear industry.
What is Global Recycling Standard?
The Global Recycled Standard (GRS) is a product standard for tracking and verifying the content of recycled materials in a final product.
The standard applies to the full supply chain and addresses traceability, environmental principles, social requirements, chemical content and labeling.
The goal of the GRS is to increase use of recycled materials in products and reduce/eliminate the harm caused by its production.
Here you can read more about GRS.
Leather production with LWG
Our footwear licensee is a proud member of the Leather Working Group (LWG).
The LWG certifies leather manufacturing facilities based on environmental performance in areas such as water and energy use, air emissions and waste. Through our partnership with LWG, we source 100% of our leather from gold and silver rated LWG leather manufacturers.
Here you can see examples of men’s and women’s shoes in our collection which contains LWG certified leather. As you can see there are both boots and sneakers to choose from.
